NADAR CON TORTUGAS EN AKUMAL Y CENOTE EN RIVIERA MAYA
Swimming with turtles in Riviera Maya is one of the most incredible experiences you can have, although it is important that it is done with the respect that the marine fauna deserves. It is possible to see turtles in different coastal areas of the Riviera Maya, but the best known and where there are more turtles is undoubtedly in Akumal Bay. It should also be noted that since it is a bay, the sea is usually much calmer than in other areas for snorkeling in the open sea.
The Riviera Maya turtle swimming tour starts at Akumal Bay. With a group of maximum 10 people and accompanied by our guide we will go directly to the turtle area (depending on the logistics of the day it will be either swimming from the shore or by boat, which would be a 1 minute ride to the turtle area). We will be able to snorkel in the coral reef to see a variety of tropical fish, swim with turtles and probably see some manta rays and barracudas. The approximate snorkeling time will be about 50 minutes.
After that, the excursion continues into the jungle where you will visit the Jaguar Cenote, one of the most impressive cenotes in the Riviera Maya. We will make a walking tour and we will be able to swim and appreciate the crystal clear water among its stalactites and stalagmites. While enjoying the cenote, the group will have free time to relax and have a snack of typical Mexican empanadas, fruits and natural flavored waters.
Access to Akumal, snorkeling equipment (goggles, snorkel and vest), showers, changing rooms as well as snacks and drinks are included in the price of the tour. The only thing the tour does not include is the Akumal Conservation Tax of 15 euros or 15 dollars per person.
Akumal Bay has been a natural protected area by the Government of Mexico since 2017. For this reason, there is limited daily access to the Bay with a cost per person and must be accompanied by a guide in order to snorkel, in addition to the Turtle Conservation fee. Once there, swimming with the turtles must be done in a respectful way and controlled by a trained guide.
For example, turtles may not be touched, disturbed, held or fed. A biodegradable sunscreen should also be used to avoid damaging the environment.
Swimming with turtles in Akumal and snorkeling in a cenote is available every day of the week. Departure time is before 9:00 a.m. and return at approximately 2:15 p.m., depending on the location of the hotel.
*The itinerary may be changed by visiting first the cenote and later Akumal Bay.

If the cancellation is made more than 48 hours prior to departure, there will be no penalty.
If it occurs in a shorter period, there will be a penalty of 50% of the excursion amount, since it would be very difficult for us to make up for these places and we would have to bear the costs related to transportation, guide and reservation of certain places on the excursions.

Our excursion agency is known for leaving very early in the morning to be the first to arrive at the archaeological sites.
Early in the morning there are hardly any people and it is much less hot, so arriving early you will certainly be able to take the best pictures of the day. You will notice that when we leave the ruins a lot of people start to enter.
In Spain the exchange rate from euro to Mexican peso is usually very low, both in banks and at the airport exchange houses. The best place to find it is in Playa del Carmen on Quinta Avenida. In the hotels you will also be able to change money and the exchange rate will be a little lower than in Playa del Carmen. If you are planning to go to Playa del Carmen you can take advantage of it. If you are not going to change much, it is not really worth going specifically to change, you can do it at the hotel.
The Riviera Maya is Mexico’s tourist destination par excellence and a major destination for tourists from all over the world, which is why maintaining tourist safety in this state is fundamental for the government.
Our advice is that you can move around the Riviera Maya with total tranquility, always taking the same precautions as in any other place (go through the tourist areas and do not go into the suburbs, at night go accompanied…). It is a place to enjoy it to the maximum with total tranquility!
It depends on where you use it. If it is in the hotel or in prestigious establishments, there should not be any inconvenience. It is true that there is a lot of card cloning fraud in small establishments in Playa del Carmen.
The plugs in the Riviera Maya as in all of Mexico are the same as in the United States, with 2 flat plugs and a voltage of 110v.
You will need to bring an adapter for your electrical devices, you can buy it at Media Markt for example. If not in Playa del Carmen you can usually find them in the hotels or in the Steren store (Centro Comercial las Américas).
